June 29th, 2008 – Glen Meakem: From Linebacker to Entrepreneur
This week on The Glen Meakem Program, Glen opens by introducing a clip of Congressman Ted Poe critiquing the compact fluorescent light bulbs mandate.
Glen then talks with Senator John Sununu (R – NH). Glen and John discuss the Senator’s background, Republican prospects in November, why capital gains taxes matter, and how the two of them first met at business school.
Next, Glen interviews Paul Kengor, the Executive Director of Grove City College’s Center for Vision and Values. Glen talks with Paul about George W. Bush’s long-term vision for the Middle East, his similarities to Harry Truman, and why Bush may not live to see his legacy. Glen also illustrates why freedom is a fundamental human right, and why progressives are actually anti-progress.
Glen then draws an analogy between difficult business experiences and football, and the persistence required for success in both. Glen closes with an excerpt from a commencement speech given by Art Laffer explaining why free market principles and individual success make the world a better place for everyone.
