April 4-5 – New American Tea Party!

This week, I discuss President Obama’s unprecedented move in firing General Motors CEO, Richard Wagoner.  Although I agree that Wagoner needed to be removed, this decision should have been made in a Detroit board room rather than the White House.  Politicians-especially ones who have never run a business-generally make decisions based on politics and not economics.  GM is insolvent and all political attempts from both George Bush and Barack Obama to save it from the inevitable bankruptcy process are a waste of tax-payer dollars and destructive to our economy over the long term.  For more information, see my column in this Sunday’s Tribune Review and check out my appearance on the local Pittsburgh TV show “Pittsburgh Now” with Chris Moore.

I interview Rick Scott, Chairman of Conservatives for Patients Rights (CPR), who discusses what he calls the four pillars of healthcare reform; choice, competition, accountability, and responsibility. Rick argues that addressing these “pillars” will expand access to healthcare by lowering healthcare costs for everyone. The European model of nationalizing all healthcare decisions, on which President Obama’s healthcare proposal is based, has proven to be a disaster in Canada and Great Britain where costs have increased while the level of care available to everyone has decreased. People must wait months for treatment, even critical cancer treatments, while others who have reached certain ages, are denied care all together. Politicians are simply not equipped to make decisions that are in our individual best interest, no mater how well intentioned they are.

I also interview Ambassador Alan Keyes, former UN ambassador and conservative activist about Obama’s agenda and the upcoming Pittsburgh Tea Parties.  Alan and I agree that Obama’s tax, borrow, and spend policies are mortgaging not only our futures, but also the futures of our children and grand children.  Alan and I are both speaking at tea parties here in Pittsburgh next week.  Alan will appear at the Allegheny Landing on Saturday, April 11, and I will appear at Market Square on Wednesday, April 15.  Both events will begin at 12:00 noon.  Please come and join us and show your support for fiscal responsibility, liberty and freedom. Finally, I revisit Obama’s $3.6 trillion massive spending budget for 2010. This budget increases government spending while the rest of us are forced to cut back, increases taxes on all of us, kills job growth, and produces record deficits. After rejecting 2 fiscally sound and responsible alternative plans offered by Republicans, both the House and the Senate passed Obama’s huge budget without a single Republican vote late Thursday evening. In fact 20 House Democrats and 2 Senate Democrats also voted against this massive increase in government spending.

Remember that in order to stop these anti-growth policies, we must first elect leaders to Washington DC who will support low taxes, encourage individual responsibility, and defend liberty & freedom.
