July 11-12 – Under “Cap and Trade… electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket”
This week, Sara Mohsin of Mohsin Mortgage Corporation joins me on the program with both a mortgage market update, and her take on some important headlines. Whether it’s “Cap and Trade,” national healthcare, or the “stimulus package,” President Obama’s agenda abandons free market principles and instead reflects a socialist world view. Sara-whose father was a diplomat and who has lived in many different countries around the world-agrees with me that Obama’s policies are destructive and hindering economic recovery.
I also interview Representative Mike Pence, Republican from Indiana and one of the key leaders opposing Cap and Trade. The bottom line is that if enacted the Cap and Trade bill will kill 4 million additional U.S. jobs (including many manufacturing jobs) and raise energy costs for all Americans if it passes. Yet the regulations included in this bill will do absolutely nothing to reduce the levels of CO2 and other supposed greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. During the campaign, President Obama said “with my Cap and Trade system, electricity rates would necessarily sky rocket.” Just this week in testimony before a Senate committee, Obama’s EPA Administrator, Lisa Jackson, affirmed that if enacted the Cap and Trade plan before Congress would not reduce atmospheric CO2. So why are Democratic Party leaders and rank and file alike so intent upon passing Cap and Trade? The only guess I have is that this is an indirect way to levy $1 trillion in new taxes on all Americans – especially the broad middle class – and grow government massively for the 21st century. For more information, please read my recent article, “Junk Science.”
On Friday July 17, people around the country will participate in rallies to protest the Democratic Party’s massive and unprecedented increases in taxes and government spending, as well as to protest the resulting increases in unemployment. Here in Pittsburgh, we will gather outside the local offices of U.S. Senators Arlen Specter and Bob Casey to protest. The rally will occur from noon to 1 pm outside the Regional Enterprise Tower, 425 Sixth Avenue, in downtown Pittsburgh. Please join me and others who want to speak out against a stunning set of bad policies that will harm all Americans. For more more information, go to the Pittsburgh Tea Party website.
