The heat is on!
At a Wednesday town hall meeting, U.S. Rep. Mike Ross (D-AR)-the chairman of the so-called “Blue Dog Democrats“-promised a crowd in Little Rock, Arkansas that he will not support a single payer health care system. After facing intense opposition by the majority of citizens in attendance, Ross stated, “I’ve said this several times but let me see if I can make it a little more clear. I don’t represent Speaker (Nancy) Pelosi or President Obama or (House Finance Committee Chairman) Barney Frank. I represent the people of Arkansas and I’m not voting for any bill that forces any one plan on anyone, period.”
Let’s hope Rep. Ross means what he says and votes against ObamaCare (he did vote against Cap and Trade). But the bottom line is-even though Blue Dogs claim to be moderate or conservative, and independent of Speaker Pelosi’s liberal agenda-we can not trust this 52 member coalition.
Michelle Oddis of Human Events recently detailed that these “Independent” Democrats have voted with the liberal left wing of their Party 78% of the time since President Obama has taken office. Democrats in Washington have ignored our phone calls, emails, letters, and tea party rallies. They voted for the 1,000+ page $787 billion stimulus package and the 1,500 page Cap and Trade legislation (in the House) without even reading the bills. We must continue to speak out against the 1,000+ page national healthcare bill even if Democrats cancel their town hall meetings and refuse to listen to our concerns. During this August recess, call the local office of your legislators and send them post cards respectfully telling to vote “NO” on President Obama’s government run healthcare reform.
