August 8-9: Keep Standing Up for America!
Only one week into the August recess, Democratic Party Congress people have received more than an earful at town hall forums across the country from Americans who oppose a single-payer healthcare system (Click here to read some articles and to view some videos of these townhall events). Public opinion polls also show that the overwhelming majority of Americans rate their current healthcare plans as “good” or “excellent,” and do not want the Democrats’ version of reform. Instead of listening to our wishes and promising to vote against the current reform bill, Democrats are instead belittling all who oppose them on this issue, canceling future town hall meetings, and calling on Unions and ACORN members to aggressively oppose our point of view. Thursday evening, Union members attacked several conservatives at these town hall meetings, physically assaulting several people and putting at least one person, Kenneth Gladney (black conservative activist) into the hospital with knee, back, elbow, shoulder, and face injuries.
I know that this is frustrating and alarming, but we must keep the pressure on Washington. If you have not yet done so, call the local offices of your Representatives and Senators. Also, send them a post card and respectfully tell them to vote against “ObamaCare.”
This week, I interview three terrific guests.
Sara Mohsin, co-owner of Mohsin Mortgage Corporation and friend of this program returns with an update on the current mortgage lending rates. Sara emphasizes that no matter what your current financial or credit situation is, you must implement a plan of action that will allow you to achieve your short term and long term purchasing goals. Sara and her team specialize in developing these action plans and stand ready to offer you their expertise. If you are planning to purchase your first home with the help of an FHA loan, purchase a vacation home or investment property, or even purchase an airplane, give Sara a call at 1-800-662-9550 or check out her website at mohsinmortgage.com.
Tim Burns, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives, also joins me on this week’s program to discuss his reaction to some of today’s top news headlines. Tim is running against sitting Representative Jack Murtha from Pennsylvania’s 12th District. An entrepreneur who started his own pharmacy technology company in the basement of his parents’ home in 1992 and grew it to employ over 400 people, Tim offers some key insights on our current financial crisis. The bottom line is that we must cut taxes, cut spending, and stop increasing our deficits on the local and national levels before our economy can recover. Tim also echoes my thoughts regarding healthcare reform. The liberal Democrat’s plan to nationalize our healthcare system will result in decreased quality, increased costs, and rationed care. The current House Bill is so destructive, that Congress has made themselves exempt from this national plan.
I also interview Pat Toomey, Republican candidate for U.S. Senate from Pennsylvania. Although 2010 is still a long way off, Pat is already running even with Arlen Specter (Republican Senator turned Democrat) in the most recent polls. Like Tim and me, Pat believes that free market solutions are the way to get our economy moving forward again. Enacting tax increases and over-bearing government regulations (such as Cap and Trade) will only destroy more U.S. jobs, increase the severity of our current recession, and provide more economic hardships for everyone. Pat is a responsible and reasonable person who-if elected-will be a consistent conservative voice in Washington D.C.
