Waxman cancels “Soviet Styled” April 21 Congressional Hearing
Video added
Rep. Henry Waxman – chairman of the powerful House Energy and Commerce Committee – has canceled an April 21 Congressional hearing, scheduled by the chairman after large companies (following SEC disclosure laws) revealed the massive write downs they expect to take now that ObamaCare is law. Waxman initially reacted to the claims of increased healthcare costs and pending job losses with anger and disbelief, claiming that ObamaCare is supposed to “reduce costs.”
Erick Erickson of RedState described Waxman’s initial actions as follows…
“Congressman Henry Waxman intends to haul before Congress corporations that have told their employees to expect increased health care costs because of Obamacare. This is behavior that can indisputably be described as soviet behavior. If McCarthyism was about hounding out communists and their sympathizers, the left seems intent on creating their own version of McCarthyism, which we can call Waxmania — silencing capitalists.”
It is worth noting that Waxman has spent 35 years in Congress and has no economics background. He has never created a job, or had to meet a payroll. After lashing out at companies for abiding by the law of the land, Waxman has now thought better of his outburst and canceled the April 21 hearing.

I am very disappointed by the reaction of the business community to this intimidation. The cancellation of this hearing would have been a great opportunity for these executives to fight back.
They should have gone to DC anyway and held a news conference on the steps of the Capital Building. They should have had the documentation with them showing both the laws requiring their accounting statements and the documents showing how Obamacare will cost them hundreds of millions of dollars. They could have taken this opportunity to show all of the hidden costs, the manipulations of facts, and the unintended consequences of Obamacare.
Alas, the vast majority of the CEOs of the business world are afraid to stand up the Obama machine.
