July 24-25 – Our Ideological President
UPDATED
This past weekend, I spoke about a number of issues, including the Obama administration’s hard left determination to impose more government control over banking, healthcare, energy, industry, and free speech. Needless to say, this ideologically driven agenda is driving America away from freedom and towards economic stagnation and geo-political weakness.
I also talked about the fundamental philosophy of the left versus the traditional Judeo-Christian culture of western civilization. Under the Judeo-Christian ethos – broadly defined – no individual is perfect. In fact, in the words of a popular song, “There is good and bad in everyone.” Therefore, in order to improve the world, you must start by acknowledging your own faults, and then seek personal improvement and/or forgiveness. Under modern leftwing ideology, personal responsibility is avoided, and blame is always assigned to OTHERS for society’s problems.
Over the last decade, the left demonized President George W. Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney, and Republicans in general. Remembering 20th-Century history, this left-wing demonization of others reminds me of the way communists demonized entrepreneurs and business people (aka capitalists), and the way that national socialists demonized others including the Jewish people. Today, left-wing politicians and pundits invent charges of racism to demonize conservatives and the tea party movement. The time has come to return to our strong religious and cultural roots. It’s time to stop demonizing and start serious discussions of policy and principle. And of course, any honest debate leads to a victory for America’s founding principles of individual responsibility, individual liberty, private property rights and economic freedom for everyone.
