September 4-5 – Our First Live Broadcast

Exciting things are happening with the Glen Meakem Program.  We are now broadcasting live Saturday mornings and have expanded the program from 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

This weekend, Rep. Mike Pence, Congressman from Indian, joined me on the program.  In spite of the polling data that points to significant Republican gains in this U.S. House this coming fall, Mike is very concerned about the coming lame Duck Session of Congress.  He indicated that Liberals are considering passing a Cap and Trade bill, imposing a Value Added Tax onto all Americans, passing union Card Check, and even passing another increase in spending.  “Progressives” simply cannot be trusted to govern.  We must vote them out of office and then hold the Lame Duck Session of Congress accountable.  Mike reminds us that a vote for any Democrat is a vote for Nancy Pelosi and her leftist and destructive agenda, because all Democrats will vote for her as Speaker of the House.

That is why I’m supporting Keith Rothfus for U.S. Congress over Democrat Congressman Jason Altmire.  Although Jason claims to be a “moderate voice” in Washington, Keith reminded us on the program this weekend that Altmire refused to oppose Obamacare during the national debate on Healthcare.  Jason literally waited until just a few hours before the final vote (after he was “released” by Nancy Pelosi) to vote against the health care nationalization. What a wasted leadership opportunity. If Altmire really opposed Obamacare, he should have fought against it publicly for weeks in advance of key votes. As a “moderate” Democrat, if he had done this, he might have turned the tide against the bill. Instead, he was a Democrat Party enabler of the health care nationalization, and he refuses to sign the “Repeal and Replace” pledge.

Dr. Paul Kengor, Executive Director of The Center for Vision and Values also joined me on the program.  Paul and I reflect on President Obama’s recent speech on the Iraq War.  Paul points to some of the hypocrisy of the liberal left on Iraq, specifically that in 2006 then Senator Obama (along with Senator Dick Durbin and John Kerry among others) denigrated our troops and opposed President Bush’s surge strategy.  Now, President Obama is taking credit for the recent reduction in troop strengths.

Finally, Dale McCoy, Author of the Blue Collar Commentary joined me to discuss his most recent column.
