June 4-5 – Transparency keeps the Powerful Accountable

via HotAir.com

On this weekend’s radio program, Glen talks with Sara Mohsin of Mohsin Mortgage Corporation about this week’s discomforting economic headlines.  With high unemployment, high energy and food prices, a weak U.S. dollar, a double dip in the housing market, a slowdown in durable goods orders, and falling consumer confidence, some Americans are increasingly pessimistic about their financial future.

Glen also speaks with Tom Jones, attorney with the Jones Day law firm, about the battles Obamacare faces in the United States Court System.  Tom offers some insight on what we can expect in terms of time frame and process as challenges to the President’s healthcare law are considered by the U.S. Supreme Court.

Glen talks with John Richardson, President and CEO of ENERCON Services Inc., and a licensed Professional Engineer trained in the naval nuclear program.  Having worked in the nuclear power industry for 35 years John offers his thoughts on the current state of the Fukushima power plant in Japan, and Germany’s recent decision to take all of their nuclear power plants off line by 2022.

Glen also mentions the recent political fundraisers headlined by Vice President Joe Biden  in Pittsburgh and Cleveland.  In both cases the White House Press Core was not invited to attend, and requests made by local media for access were denied.  This is a disturbing precedent, one that should not become a trend.  Transparency is a powerful tool to keep  lawmakers accountable.

Finally, Glen comments on “Weinergate,” and Rep. Anthony Weiner’s refusal to answer specific questions about the lewd photograph that was distributed from his twitter account to all of his followers last weekend.

  • Frank Kushner says:

John Richardson hit the nail on the head – there are risks to live in the modern world with more technologies and comforts.

Are Germans that stupid? Must be since they are shutting down nuke plants.
Besides coal plants emissions shortening lives, what about those other little power plants:
According to the World Health Organization, more than 1 million people are killed in automobile accidents every year, and up to 50 million more are injured.
