Happy New Year!
This week our great nation experienced another peaceful change of power in the U.S. House of Representatives, proving once again that our Constitutional form of Government is superior to all other political regimes.
On my weekend radio program, I [...]

The Tea Party’s Uphill Challenge

“The fact is that the United States isn’t as democratic as we’d like to think it is. We cherish the idea that the vox populi (the voice of the people) predominates over the will of privileged elites; that government is subordinate to the people (that it serves the people, rather than ruling them); that those in positions of governmental power should be accountable to the people from whom they derive their authority; that government is, essentially, ‘of the people, by the people, and for the people.’ Is that the kind of system we have today? Let’s see.”

The article explained that the “framework” outlined on Monday evening by President Obama calls for a two-year [...]

The Great Corrective

Professor of political science and executive director of The Center for Vision & Values at Grove City College—Dr. Paul Kengor—recalls “that same electorate, after voting as it did, walked out of the booth and described itself to pollsters as conservative over liberal by an overwhelming margin of two to one, 40 percent to 20 percent, as it has in every poll for two decades. That data held even throughout the start of Obama’s presidency and the peak of his popularity. A major Gallup poll conducted from January to May 2009 found more self-described conservatives than liberals not only by 40 percent to 21 percent but in all 50 states.” “And now,” Kengor concludes, “this Tuesday, November 2, 2010: the backlash. Call it the great corrective. America remains that conservative country by a margin of two to one, even if it doesn’t always vote that way. This Tuesday, it did.”
