President Bill Clinton announced his nuclear deal with North Korea on October 18, 1994. Clinton hailed the deal as good for the United States, our allies, and the world. He also promised that the deal would bring to an end “nuclear proliferation on the Korean Peninsula.” He was wrong. Since the deal, North Korea has built and detonated a nuclear weapon, and now has tens, soon hundreds of warheads, and the missiles to deliver them.

Obama’s deal will produce the same result with the radical Islamic Republic of Iran. In fact, Obama’s speech hailing the framework for a deal as a major breakthrough has many “Echoes of Clinton.” Marc Thiessen pointed out some of the “echoes” in a column published at the Washington Post.
